What Music Means to Seafair

1 of 5

From Ray Charles, to Nirvana, to Macklemore and The Head & The Heart, Seattle is renowned as a city steeped in musical tradition.

In an effort to expose our region to this music and tradition Seattle is famous for, Seafair introduced bold new mainstages and provided rich new musical experiences to the 2016 festival.

Seafair has also committed to supporting up and coming northwest youth musicians by providing opportunities to perform on these new stages and is excited to continue to offer an expanding array of unique contemporary music performances to the festival.

The City of Music @ Seafair – Music Ambassador

The Seattle Music Commission and Seafair, came together in 2016 to form a new partnership - City of Music @ Seafair. This partnership helps showcase the city's expansive array of musical talent by weaving music throughout Seafair events. For 2019, we are growing our “City of Music @ Seafair” partnership to enlist a youth music-based performance non-profits to curate the Summer Fourth Main Stage programming. This year working with groups including:

  • Totem Star
  • The Vera Project
  • The Residency
  • The Rhapsody Project
  • 206 Zulu
  • NW Folklife
  • Seattle JazzED
  • Across the Bridge
  • More Music @ The Moore
  • Sound Off!
  • Rain City Rock Camp
  • Seattle Drum School
  • Seattle Music Partners
  • Young Strings Project Outreach
  • KEXP

  • A key aspect of this partnership included nominating and appointing a City of Music @ Seafair – Music Ambassador. This person would give voice to this dynamic partnership and represent Seattle City of Music to diverse audiences through several high-profile performances at key Seafair events throughout the summer festivities.

The 2019 Music Ambassador is Zoser! Zoser is a singer/songwriter and music bender with a soulful voice, thoughtful lyrics, and a guitar. Music grounds Zoser as he sings his way through the Puget Sound.

While in high school, Zoser was a gold medalist in the Seattle King County NAACP ACTSO competition where he went on to represent the branch at the National convention. He has been inducted into the Washington Young Laureates program and is currently an intern at Totem Star. At the beginning of this year, he was a semifinalist for SoundOff! 2019 and a member of More Music at The Moore.

    About the Seattle Music Commission
