Join the Seafair summer staff! Our program includes internships with a focus in the following areas: operations, sales,box office, special events, sponsorship & promotions and marketing & public relations! Our goal is to recruit and develop individuals who wish to excel in the sports, entertainment and event industry. We believe that internships are a vital part of a student's professional preparation. Our program provides students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in a professional business environment.
Seafair has been delighting the city of Seattle for over 64 years - come and be a part of this iconic festival.
Time Commitment
Mid-May (or June depending on college schedule) through August 9, 2013 - 40+ Hours Per Week. All interns are required to work all Seafair Signature events, including:
• June 19 - Kick Off Event
• June 22 - Rock 'n' Roll Seattle Marathon and ½ Marathon – A Signature Seafair Event
• July 6 - Pirates Landing
• July 13 - Milk Carton Derby
• July 20/21 - Seafair Triathlon (expo and event)
• July 27 - Seafair Torchlight Run & Torchlight Parade
• Week of July 28 - August 4: Seafair Fleet Week, Seafair Weekend featuring the Boeing Air Show, Albert Lee Cup Hydroplane Race & Hyperlite Wakeboard Experience
Compensation
Full-time interns will receive:
• $225 monthly stipend
• Complimentary tickets to the Seafair Torchlight Parade and Seafair Weekend for family and/or friends (four per intern)
• Staff outings, post-event dinners, and kick-off and end of the summer parties
All internships are full-time with exception of the Street Team/Brand Marketing Interns. The Street Team/Brand Marketing Interns are part-time positions, requiring 20 hours a week and include working event weekends. These positions are not paid.
Qualifications
• Excellent communications skills (written and oral)
• Must be a college junior or senior in good standing
• Must be seeking an internship for college credit and/or as a prescribed part of a school curriculum
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, ability to multi-task
• Must perform in a professional manner at all times, maintaining a positive attitude and able to represent the organization both internally and externally
• Must display strong leadership skills, be goal oriented, detail oriented and possess excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work with all types of staff utilizing voice mail, email, computers, fax machines, copiers, and proper use of memos and other office communications

EVENT PRODUCTION
Festival Operations Intern
Focus: Event Operations & Logistics for Festival events supporting the following:
• Milk Carton Derby
• Triathlon & Expo
• Torchlight Night (Fun Run, Spectacular & Parade)
• Seafair Hydroplane Race & Air Show
Reports To: Operations Director
Positions: Three (3)
Responsibilities:
• Support Seafair Staff/Volunteers in planning and implementing event logistics for all Seafair events.
• Manage communication with event participants regarding event preparation, load-in/load-out and day-of logistics.
• Plan and implement event operations as directed by respective Event Producers
• Volunteer Recruitment and communication
• Assist in database management for equipment orders
• Assist in managing signage Inventory, and on-site implementation of signage and décor plans at all Seafair events.
• Sell Logboom space for boaters attending Seafair Weekend and manage on-site trouble shooting for Logboom Customers
• Assist in Radio Communications assignments, distribution and equipment recovery
• Assist in implementation of the Seafair Green Plan (recycling and waste management) for Seafair events.

TICKET SALES/CUSTOMER SERVICE
Box Office Intern
Focus: Ticket Sales & Fulfillment
Reports To: Director of Finance & Human Resources
Positions: One (1)
Responsibilities:
• Manage ticket order fulfillment through online, phone and mail-in order requests
• Serve as liaison to print tickets, audit payments and set up Will Call
• Process payments via online, phone, mail, in person and on site
• Assist at Sporting events: on site & day-of registration and cash receipts reporting
• Track and manage ticket inventory and revenue and prepare weekly reports for Seafair Festival events
• Assist with on site ticket sales at all Seafair Festival events
• Manage & process VIP and Sponsor ticket orders
• Preparation of weekly sales reports
• Assist with Beer Garden revenue reporting and cash handling

• Manage board member volunteer experiences, receptions, event RSVP’s & communication
• Manage royalty communication and implementation of royal knightings
• Manage invitations and communication with military contacts

Volunteer Management Intern
Focus: Volunteer Program

• Assist with communication and outreach to recruit new volunteers
• Manage volunteer recognition program to communicate awards, nominations and finalist selection
• Maintain internal volunteer database of new contacts
• Coordinate special Seafair experiences for volunteers
• Manage volunteer booth at Seafair events

Responsibilities:
• Create promotional and administrative materials for programs and fundraisers
• Oversee backstage support for Scholarship Program for Women events
• Assist in planning and implementing fundraiser events, including managing and troubleshooting registration, coordinate event logistics, and provide on-site customer service.

SPONSORSHIP
Sponsorship & Promotions Intern
Focus: Sponsorship & Promotions
Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing

Responsibilities:
• Sales department administration
• Coordinate VIP Hospitality Programs including ticket sales, catering, venue lay-out and volunteer management
• Assist with special event planning for sponsor-related events
• Support sponsorship management at all Seafair events: Signage placement, event set-up, client interaction and VIP experiences
• Assist with corporate hospitality program implementation and operations including ticketing, parking, signage and on-site trouble shooting
• Track marketing and operational obligations in sponsor agreements

STREET TEAM

This position will support the sales/sponsorship and marketing/communications departments. This person will primarily be responsible for implementing promotions.
