2012 SEAFAIR TORCHLIGHT PARADE GRAND MARSHAL

World famous rockstar Duff McKagan has been named Grand Marshal of the 2012 Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade. The Torchlight Parade takes place on Sat., July 28, and will be a celebration of the Carnival of Summer with a tribute to the 1962 World's Fair.
“We are thrilled to have a rock and roll legend as the 2012 Torchlight Parade Grand Marshal,” said Beth Knox, President & CEO of Seafair. "Duff's a Seattleite who loves Seafair and is very involved in our community."
The parade is the largest in the Northwest, drawing over 300,000 on-site spectators and an additional 700,000 television viewers. Fans can expect to see an array of entertainment – including floats, marching bands, drill and dance teams, gigantic character balloons, Seafair Pirates and Clowns, local celebrities, personalities and more!
ABOUT DUFF McKAGAN
Musician Duff McKagan is a rock and roll hall-of-famer who hails from Seattle, WA. McKagan has played in over 30 rock bands - including his 13-year tenure as a founding member and the bassist of heavy metal group Guns n' Roses. Duff co-founded the band Velvet Revolver and is the leader of Seattle's Loaded. He attended Seattle University's Albers School of Business in 2000 to attain his accounting degree and later launched a wealth management firm for musicians. An avid writer, Duff has authored his own book ("It's So Easy: and Other Lies" - an autobiography), and has a column on Seattle Weekly's Reverb. He is also a passionate sports fan and writes regularly for ESPN Playbook Sounds. Additionally, McKagan has several TV acting credits to his name. Duff has been and remains very involved in the Seattle community. He lives in Seattle with his wife, Susan, and daughters Grace and Mae.
McKagan will be officially knighted by Seafair Royalty on Torchlight Night. In addition to his parade grand marshal duties, Duff will be serving as an ambassador of Seafair Weekend where he will welcome the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, take a ride in a vintage hydroplane and wakeboard with the pros, among other activities.
