Course Description

Water temperature is expected to be in the upper 60s and wetsuits are allowed. Safety personnel will be present to assist if needed. Exit the water and head up the beach and onto the grass to the transition area.

The 12-mile Bike route leads participants out of Seward Park, traveling north on Lake Washington Blvd. Continuing on Lakeside Ave S., turn left onto Day Street to enter the I-90 Express Lanes service access road, near the West Portal. Once on the I-90 Express Lanes, cyclists continue until the turnaround located just past the entrance of the East Portal on Mercer Island. The return route is the same in reverse to the transition area.

The 3.1-mile (5k) Run will take participants on a clockwise tour of the lower loop of Seward Park. On the east side of Seward Park, runners will trek to the upper loop and back down before proceeding to the finish line in the parking lot on the south side of the park. Tuesday Night Training with Seafair
Raise the Bar, the dynamic organization that brought a group of triathletes and coaches together for excellent training and a team experience, is now bringing a Seafair Triathlon training series to Seward Park for that same demographic of triathlete... everyone.

For 6 Tuesday nights, athletes from Seattle and the surrounding areas will come together at Seward Park for training and simulated racing that will pay dividends on race day.

Beginners will work on open water swim skills, transition practice, and tricks of the trade from a staff of experienced athletes and coaches – while building strength and endurance along the way.

Intermediate Athletes will do some good hard fitness and strength building training too, and will have the chance to learn some of the skills that help break out of the mid-pack and move up the field.

Experienced athletes can come and push through some challenging coached interval work and simulated races with other experienced athletes from around the area.

RTB and Seafair share a similar mission of bringing exciting, community-enhancing events to Seattle Summertime – and this training series will be a perfect fit. To learn more about the training series go to weraisethebar.com/seafairtraining.html

Swim Course
It is very important that all athletes who choose to compete in a sprint distance triathlon are capable of swimming at least half a mile in open water. If you do not have experience with swimming in open water, it is highly recommended that you do so prior to the race. Below is a list of public beaches on Lake Washington that allow public swimming. *Due to circumstances beyond our control, the milfoil in Andrews Bay may not be cut prior to the race on July 18. Although the milfoil will be pushed back as athletes enter the water, please expect to encounter some milfoil throughout the swim.
