Get There - 2010
The Seafair Torchlight Parade takes place in the heart of downtown Seattle and runs south along Fourth Avenue from the Space Needle to Qwest Field (2.5 miles).
Fourth Avenue Route Map
One of the best options for beating traffic will be traveling to the parade route via the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel either by bus or light rail. Just be sure to plan your trip home before the last bus or train leaves the tunnel Saturday night.
If you're riding the bus on surface streets, King County Metro Transit advises you to "know before you go" about re-routes around streets closed for the parade.
- On Saturday, most Metro buses will remain on their normal routes in the downtown core area until 6pm, but some re-routes around the parade area will be as early as 3:30pm. Buses normally traveling west on Pine Street will instead travel on Seventh Avenue to Union Street.
- After 6pm Metro routes that travel surface streets will be unable to cross Fourth Avenue and will turn back at Sixth or Third Avenues.
- Bus stops affected by re-routing will be posted with a Rider Alert and information is available on Metro Online.
- Most bus routes return to regular schedules at the end of the parade.
- All Metro service operates on a normal Saturday schedule. Expect delays due to crowds and traffic. There is an afternoon Mariners & Sounders game that day and events at the Seattle Center.
For additional transit information, call (206) 553-3000, or visit Metro Online.
Parking
Parade spectators have two options for reserved seating and can purchase tickets for either the Westlake Grandstand area (Fourth & Pine) or the Fourth Avenue Bleacher Seating (along Fourth Avenue from Broad-Pine Street).
The streets will close at 6:00 p.m. on parade night and spectators are encourged to get downtown early and park either on the street or in a parking garage nearest to their bleacher section.
Park at the Start
Park at Seattle Center and enjoy the beginning of the parade, or ride the Monorail to Westlake. Plentiful parade parking is available at Seattle Center. Arrive early on parade day and enjoy all the attractions Seattle Center has to offer. Or arrive before 6:00 p.m. and watch the parade at the start, or take the Monorail to the Westlake Grandstand area downtown. Access complete Seattle Center Parking Information.
