
Saturday: Pirates, Clowns, Miss Seafair and Apolo
The 61st Seafair nears its festival pinnacle as the Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade, Michelob ULTRA Torchlight Run and Miss Seafair Scholarship Program for Women Coronation hit the streets of downtown Seattle at a frenzied pace, Saturday, July 31.

Seattleās original road race features a new 5K and 8K
course. For the first time both races will journey down the Alaska Airlines
Torchlight Parade route and be televised live on KIRO TV. The new route will start near South Lake Union, storm the
parade route, hit the viaduct and return to South Lake Union.

Seafair and Alaska
Airlines are pleased to honor Winter Olympic medal winner and Northwest native,
Apolo Anton Ohno as the 2010 Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade Grand Marshal.
Apolo Ohno is the most decorated United States
Winter Olympic athlete having captured eight Olympic Medals (two gold, two
silver, four bronze).
Not to be out done, the parade will also feature the
swashbuckling Seafair Pirates, mischievous Seafair Clowns, the Budweiser
Clydesdales, community floats, international drill teams and plenty of
entertainment for the whole family.

The 2010 Coronation will take place prior to the Torchlight
Parade live on KIRO Television in the Westlake Television Zone along the route.
Following the Coronation and awarding of scholarship money, the new Miss
Seafair will begin her reign by riding in the Torchlight Parade.
