Seafair Races, Swims and Jumps into Week Two!

Seafair Summer is starting to sizzle as the festival splashes into week two of summertime fun. Between the Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon, food & wine festival and dancing dragons, Seafair has enough activities to make anyone consider taking Monday off!

Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon at Seafair, July 18

The 2010 Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon will dive into Andrews Bay (Seward Park) Sunday, July 18 at 7 a.m. With nearly 2,000 triathletes expected, the Triathlon continues to be the largest coed triathlon in the Northwest and was voted the Pacific Northwest’s best sprint distance triathlon by Competitor NW Magazine.

Race to Eliminate Autoimmune Diseases

Seafair and the Benaroya Research Institute will also be raising funds to support autoimmune disease research. A portion of each entry fee and all donations from the triathlon go to support research. In 2009 Seafair raised nearly $20,000.

Over 350 “Mini-Athletes” Expected

Blitz from the Seahawks will cheer the pint-sized (ages 6-12) competitors on as the “Splashers” tackle a 50-yard swim, one-mile bike and .2-mile run; and the “Swimmers” dominate the 150-yard swim, two-mile bike and .5-mile run. The Kids Triathlon will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. following the adult event
