Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival
Location: 1010 Valley Street, Seattle, WA 98109
Date/Times: 7/1/2012 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
This will be the 36th year in a row that The Center for Wooden Boats has hosted its Annual 4th of July Wooden Boat Festival on Lake Union. And this year the festival will be bigger and better than ever.
The Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival is an old-fashioned, down-home, family friendly, waterfront festival where everything is fun and almost everything is free. It's as authentically grassroots American as you can get on the 4th of July and has been for the last 35 years.
The 2012 Festival will include: visiting vessels, free public boat rides on Lake Union, activities for kids including toy boat building and a scavenger hunt, craft and skill demonstrations, food vendors, live music, and a 24 hour boat building race called the Quick and Daring. Teams will be up all night building their boats, and if they don’t do a good job...who knows if it will hold together during the race…or sink.
It all winds up on the 4th of July, and that evening the new park will be open for families looking for a great location to watch the fireworks over Lake Union.
