Run with Queen Underwood

Queen Underwood is a 2002 graduate of Garfield High School in Seattle, where she was a three sport athlete in track & field, basketball and cross country.  She was also a national and world champion power-lifter in her 16-17 year age group.  Queen began boxing in Seattle gyms in 2001 and went on to become a six-time national boxing champion from 2007 thru 2012; a 2010 bronze medalist at the World Games in Barbados; and a gold medalist at the 2012 USA Olympic Trials in Spokane, WA. She has been a frequent medalist in international competition, boxing in Ecuador, Canada, China, Ireland, Venezuela, Trinidad and Barbados, and other countries.  As a member of the 2012 US Olympic Team at the London Olympic Games, Queen Underwood made sports history by becoming the first American woman to compete in an Olympic boxing match. Sign up for Queen's Team when registering. You can meet her at the mainstage to warm up and run along the route with her. Wear red, white and blue! Your family and friends can hang out and watch you complete the race in our reserved section on the run/parade route (remind them to bring chairs)!

Raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington and Alaska
The Seattle Ronald McDonald House is excited to partner with Seafair on the Torchlight Run once again! This year we are asking race participants to help raise $100 each by creating a personalized fundraising webpage to ask their friends and family for support. These are much-needed funds that will go a long way in supporting the Seattle Ronald McDonald House and the more than 700 families who call it a home-away-from-home each year while their child receives medical treatment. Did you know that a $25 donation sponsors one night of housing for a family at the House?

As an added bonus, each runner who meets the $100 goal will be entered into a drawing to win exciting prizes and gift certificates to local businesses!

To get started fundraising or for more information, please contact Ellen Sontra at (206) 838-0629. CLICK HERE for more information. Thank you for your support!
